In honor of BooMama's love of bacon and her post yesterday, I'm showing you one of my favorite bacon recipes.
Enjoy.
First you'll need some blanched, whole almonds, and some pitted dates:
Then you'll need some bacon, of course:
Now, soak some toothpicks in water for a few minutes.
Take an almond, and put it in the date. There will be a hole or slit where the pit was removed, so this will be easy.
Now cut the bacon strips into thirds, wrap around the date, and secure with the soaked toothpicks.
Broil until the bacon starts to get a little crispy.
When it's done it will look something like this:
They are bacony, sweet, with a little crunch from the almond, and oh so delicious!!! I love to serve them as an appetizer paired with a nutty gouda cheese, crackers, and some good olives...it's a great combination!
